Croydon Ear Wax Removal Services

Ear Wax Removal Croydon

Specialist Ear Wax Removal in Croydon

Regain Hearing is an established and well-regarded network of professional, private audiology clinics that provide clients with a full range of hearing tests, hearing aid services, and ear wax removal treatments using our cutting-edge microsuction technique.

We endeavour to ensure that every client is satisfied with their treatment, understands any causes or factors linked to their ear wax blockage, and goes away with advice and guidance about how to manage their hearing and ear health over the long term.

Reasons to Consider Booking an Ear Wax Removal Treatment

Ear wax may be a natural and normally benign part of how our ears function, but accumulations of ear wax can cause profound problems, ranging from hearing loss to tinnitus, ear infections, and dizziness.

There is never a bad time to schedule a professional hearing assessment to verify whether you would benefit from a gentle ear wax removal treatment, although we recommend you schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience if you experience any of the following:

  • Changes to your hearing, whether you perceive that your hearing quality has decreased or find that sounds seem muffled in one or both ears.
  • Feelings of dizziness, imbalance or disorientation – often described as similar to vertigo.
  • Soreness, pain or any irritation in your ears that does not resolve quickly.
  • Ongoing discharges, odours or earaches, often accompanied by a persistent cough – or any of these symptoms on their own.

As part of the service, we’ll conduct a quick and pain-free series of tests to check for the presence of an ear wax blockage and to ensure that any underlying issues have been identified before we remove the ear wax.

Ear wax removal appointment

What to expect at your ear wax removal appointment

If you have never had an ear wax removal treatment before or are new to microsuction, we appreciate that you might be unsure what to expect or have concerns that the process could be uncomfortable or time-consuming.

Rest assured that an ear wax removal treatment is quick and simple:

  1. First, we’ll chat about your hearing and ear health, ensuring our audiologists know about any concerns you might have or changes to your hearing. We’ll then look inside your ears using a microscopic camera and advise if we see any signs of ear wax blockages or infections.
  2. Next, we’ll use our innovative microsuction technique to remove problematic ear wax without pain or discomfort. We can pause at any point, but the treatment takes just a few minutes.
  3. Finally, we’ll let you know if we feel any additional therapies or treatments might be beneficial, particularly if you are struggling with your hearing quality or want to improve your approach to preserving your hearing health in the long term.

While microsuction is highly effective, you’ll also be advised to book a follow-up free of charge if any ear wax remains after your treatment.

Does Microsuction Ear Wax Removal Hurt?

No—microsuction is gentle, safe, and suited to anybody. We use a very small clinical device that provides a subtle but effective suction effect without touching your ear canal or posing any risk of damage or injury to your ears. You can read more about this here: does microsuction hurt?

Ear syringing is a conventional process of removing ear wax, where the practitioner or clinician injects a stream of water into the ear, aiming to flush out any ear wax.

Microsuction is a more advanced, modern solution that overcomes all the limitations of syringing. These include the mess and residues that occur when flushing your ears with water, the potential for syringing to cause pain and irritation, and possible infections if the water reaches the delicate inner elements of your ear.

We only recommend microsuction because it is proven to be safe, more effective than any other option, and suitable to clients with sensitivity since the tiny microsuction device never comes into physical contact with any part of your ear canal.

Read our article: What is microsuction?

Yes, ear wax may be normal and a natural part of how our ears clean themselves, but untreated buildups and blockages can cause temporary and more profound changes to our hearing and the health of our ears.

If you are concerned about tinnitus symptoms or have found that tinnitus treatments have limited effect, we’d advise you to book a full hearing assessment and microsuction treatment, where we’ll be able to evaluate your ears and provide further advice, alongside removing wax where necessary.

You can read more about this here: Tinnitus caused by earwax

The most effective way to remove ear wax, whether a mild buildup or a more major blockage, is to visit an accredited audiologist who offers microsuction ear wax removal.

DIY ear wax removal kits can often exacerbate the problem by forcing the ear wax further into the ear canal. Ear syringing may also not be suitable, especially if you have sensitive ears, are at risk of an ear infection, or have had previously poor experiences with ear syringing.
