Something I’m grateful for today: AI & Technology in Live captions and subtitles

I used to dread phone calls. Like… legit anxiety.
Being hard of hearing meant spending the whole time squinting with my ears (yes, that’s a thing) and praying I caught enough words to piece the conversation together like a bad Netflix dub.

Even with my hearing aids, I’d miss key words, lose the thread, and end up replying to a question no one asked.
Which, by the way, is a great way to end a call and your confidence in one go. 💀

Eventually, I just started pretending I heard what was said. Smile, nod, hope for the best.
But it was exhausting. And awkward.
“Sorry, what?”
“Say that again?”
“Wait… what are we talking about?”
That was my soundtrack.

But now? Live captions on my iPhone and meeting apps have changed the game.
I can read what’s being said in real time — phone calls, Zooms, Teams, even random video content.
No stress. No guesswork. Just smooth, chill conversations. What used to be a nightmare is now… kind of a vibe.

It may be a simple feature to you or something you don’t even need. But for someone like me, it’s life-changing!
And it’s a reminder that AI and Tech aren’t just for fancy chatbots and algorithms — they’re unlocking access, dignity, and ease in everyday life. Especially for people with hearing loss.

So yeah, shoutout to the engineers, designers, and AI nerds who made this happen. Yeah yeah yeah will give a nod to hearing aid companies as well 😉 Y’all the real MVPs.

You didn’t just build tech. You built peace of mind. You built Self-Confidence and I for one love it!
